WHAT'S A SKINHEAD We belong to the greatest and most misunderstood cult ever existed: the skinhead cult. The media, the nazis, lots of people claiming to be left-wing, and even the ordinary man looking for an easy scapegoat to exorcise his latent racism, did anything but propagate the image of the racist 'skins' (which we call 'boneheads'), when being a skinheads has never been political choice, it being understood that every skin has his own opinions on politics, just like every single person on the world. Skinheads weren't born as an expression of an elusive 'white superiority' but as multiracial and multiethnical style in England during the late '60s as an encounter of the most authentic and proletarian mod culture (hard-mod) and the jamaican culture of rude boys, reggae and ska, imported from the many west-indians immigrants. There have always been skins more or less interested in politics, more or less right-wing or left-wing, as our style has always been a street, working class style, but not an instrument of a party or another one. But there is something that never belonged to our culture: racism, as it's completely opposed to our roots . Our purpose., here, is still to put the things straight, to make people understand that the abuse of our style, the far right infiltrations came many time after our birth, starting a totally different cult, deeply different from our one: what have boneheads (with their nazi hard-rock, their symbols and prejudices) in common with rude boys, reggae and hard-mods?
